![]() Clipping is when the signal that is being recorded it’s output more than 3db, usually appearing in the gain(volume meter) of your DAW or recording software as passing a red mark.Ĭlipping causes distortion of the sound, and it may appear that your signal is not clipping but you still hear distortion, this is maybe because in the master channel of the mixer the gain(volume meter) shows you a signal bellow 0db because you lowered the volume but you had routed your mic to another channel, and there the signal is passing 3db.Īvoiding clipping is as simple as making sure your gain(volume meter) doesn’t go above 0db so it stays green.
